You can track your steps using your iOS device and have that data sent to the Withings app thanks to Apple Health linking. This means that in the event that you are not using your Withings tracker, your phone will be able to track steps and send them to the app. You also do not require a Withings tracker to take advantage of your iOS device's built-in step tracking capabilities.
To use this feature, you must have an iOS device meeting the following requirements:
- iOS 15 or higher
- iPhone 6s or higher
You will first need to establish a link between Apple Health and the Withings app in order to have your iOS device-tracked activity appear in the Withings app. Once this link is established, any steps tracked by your iOS device will automatically sync with the Withings app if no activity has already been synced with a Withings tracker.
Important: If you do have a Withings tracker, the Withings app will prioritize whatever activity you have tracked with it over any activity you have tracked with your iOS device.
Linking Apple Health to the Withings app
If you have not yet linked Apple Health to the Withings app, you will need to do so before being able to see the activity tracked with your iOS device in the Withings app.
To link the Withings app to Apple Health, perform the following steps:
- Open the Withings app
- Go to your Profile.
- Scroll down to the 'Apps' section.
- Tap the Health icon.
- Tap Activate and then Next.
The next screen will allow you to select the data you want to share with Apple Health.
- Tap Turn On All to allow Withings to import and export all health data to Apple Health, or choose specific activity-related data to share including Steps and Distance.
Unlinking Apple Health from the Withings app
If you no longer want to have iOS device-tracked activity to appear in the Withings app, you will need to disable the link to Apple Health. To do this, follow these steps:
- Open Apple Health.
- Tap Sharing.
- Tap Apps > Withings.
- Tap Turn Off All or choose specific activity-related data to disable.
