Note: If you do not have a suction cup tool for opening U-Scan, please follow the instructions using your hands, preferably with the gloves packaged with U-Scan or rubber gloves to aid in gripping the device.

U-Scan utilizes specialized Cartridges containing a set number of measurement test strips. Installing and changing a Cartridge is straightforward, and utilizing the proper technique to close U-Scan after installing it is crucial to ensure that the device is completely sealed from water. 

Important:

• Please make sure that your hands, as well as the surface of U-Scan, are clean and dry before opening and closing the device. This improves the grip required to open and close U-Scan.
• When a Cartridge is opened from its package and exposed to air, the test strips inside will expire after 3 months. For this reason, we strongly recommend that you install your Cartridge immediately after opening it.
• The test strips inside an unopened Cartridge package will last for 15 months before they expire.

To install a Cartridge, follow these steps:

1. Open the Withings App.
2. Go to Device Settings > U-Scan, and tap Replace Cartridge under 'Device Maintenance.'
3. Follow the in-app instructions to deep clean the U-Scan.
4. Following deep cleaning, open the U-Scan by positioning the suction cup on the center of the U-Scan's cover and holding the U-Scan in one hand and the suction cup handle in the other.
5. Press down firmly on the suction cup to create a seal between the suction cup and cover.  
6. Twist the suction cup handle counterclockwise along with the cover to open the U-Scan.
7. Insert the Cartridge into the Reader by gently pushing down and rotating the Cartridge in either direction until you feel it lock in place with the Reader.
   
   
   
   The indicator light will change from blue to green to confirm that the Cartridge has been activated.
8. To close U-Scan, position the suction cup back on the center of the U-Scan's cover and hold the U-Scan in one hand and the suction cup handle in the other. 
   
   
    
9. Press down firmly on the suction cup to create a seal between the suction cup and cover.  
   
   
    
10. Twist the suction cup handle clockwise along with the cover to close the U-Scan.   
    
    
11. Make sure that the arrow along the seam aligns with one of the dots to ensure the watertight seal is fully closed.
    
12. The Cartridge is now properly installed.

Note: Make sure you dispose of the used Cartridge following local regulations.
