Note: If you do not have a suction cup tool for opening U-Scan, please follow the instructions using your hands, preferably with the gloves packaged with U-Scan or rubber gloves to aid in gripping the device.
Daily cleaning and upkeep
The U-Scan's surface is designed to be rinsed with each toilet flush, keeping it relatively clean every day. If necessary, you can clean the surface of the device with a mild soap and pat dry with a soft cloth or paper towel.
Warnings:
- If your toilet's design prevents the U-Scan from being rinsed with the water from the toilet's flush, it is recommended to rinse the surface of the device with a cup of water on a regular basis.
- Please only use mild soap and water to clean the surface of the U-Scan. Do not apply any other cleaning products, as they may affect the U-Scan's lifespan and accuracy.
- Do not use any toilet cleaner/deodorizer blocks in your toilet while U-Scan is installed, as it can lead to measurement contamination as well as discoloration of the U-Scan.
- Do not use toilet paper to dry off the U-Scan after cleaning. Toilet paper may clog the collection point of the device, leading to measurement failure.
- Please remove the U-Scan before cleaning your toilet. Bathroom and toilet bowl cleaning solutions often contain abrasive chemicals that can damage U-Scan.
Daily purging process
Every day between 11:00 am and 12:00 pm, U-Scan will automatically purge its fluid collection tube (used to collect your urine sample) by blowing air into the tube. This process is meant to remove any incidental fluid that is remaining inside the collection tube to ensure that the next measurement is as accurate as possible and to avoid any buildup of humidity within the device. You will hear mechanical whirring noises coming from the U-Scan while it purges.

Deep cleaning process
Deep cleaning of the device is highly recommended and will be suggested by the app when:
- a Cartridge is replaced
- the collection point of the U-Scan is potentially clogged, resulting in measurement failure
Deep cleaning is two-fold:
- External - The surface of the U-Scan is cleaned by being submerged in a mixture of detergent (packaged with the U-Scan) and water inside of the U-Scan Station.
- Internal - The fluid collection tube inside the U-Scan is cleaned by collecting a mixture of water and cleaning powder (packaged with the U-Scan’s Cartridges). Rinsing the U-Scan with water afterwards helps pump the remaining detergent in the fluid collection tube out of the device.
