Warning: Follow the steps below immediately if you receive a humidity warning in the Withings app to prevent product malfunction.
While the U-Scan is designed to exist inside your toilet and deal with a fair amount of moisture, sometimes an excess amount of water or humidity can interfere with the unit's functions.
Typically, the reason humidity levels can rise dramatically is due to poor closure of the device. We have a dedicated article on how to do this properly and recommend reading it carefully to understand how to ensure the U-Scan's watertight seal is intact.
When the interior of the U-Scan becomes too humid, you are likely to receive a notification in the app. Please do not ignore these notifications, as they indicate a serious issue that can lead to the product malfunction if not acted upon right away.
If you see either of these humidity warning notifications in your app, follow the steps below immediately:
- "The humidity level of your device is rapidly increasing"
- "The humidity level of your device is high"
To prevent any further possible water damage to U-Scan, please follow these steps immediately:
- Remove the U-Scan from the toilet.
- Clean the outside of the unit with water or a mild soap and dry the device thoroughly.
- Open the U-Scan and remove the Cartridge.
- Spot dry any visible drops of water on the Cartridge and inside the U-Scan.
- Allow 5 days for the device and Cartridge to completely dry.
- Reinsert the Cartridge into the U-Scan.
- Press and hold the power button for at least 30 seconds to turn the device back on.
-
Close the U-Scan carefully, making sure that the gasket is in place and the dots on the Reader align with the arrow on the Cover.
Important: If you are unsure if the U-Scan is sealed or not, or are not sure where the gasket is, please follow the instructions in our dedicated article to make sure that you are closing the device properly.
- When placing the U-Scan back in the toilet, make sure that the U-Scan is not touching any pooled water in the toilet, as the device should not be allowed to be submerged in liquid for any prolonged period of time.
