Note: If you do not have an opening tool for opening U-Scan, please follow the instructions using your hands, preferably with the gloves packaged with U-Scan or rubber gloves to aid in gripping the device.
The U-Scan will come with opening tool that will aid in gripping the smooth surface of the U-Scan's cover to allow effective opening and closing.
Important: If using your hands to open and close U-Scan, please make sure that your hands, as well as the surface of U-Scan, are clean and dry before opening and closing the device. This improves the grip required to open and close U-Scan.
Closing U-Scan
Closing the U-Scan properly is very important. If the U-Scan's waterproof seal is not fully closed, U-Scan could become vulnerable to internal water/humidity damage which can lead to product malfunction.
-
Before closing U-Scan, check that the gasket is in place. The gasket is a grey rubber ring nestled in the inner screw threads of the Reader that keeps the watertight seal intact.
Warning: The gasket can be moved out of place or damaged, which compromises the watertight seal. It is important that it is nestled in its place in the inner screw threads of the Reader. Below is an image of an opened U-Scan showing the location of the gasket.
- Position the opening tool on the center of the U-Scan's cover and hold the U-Scan in one hand and the opening tool's handle in the other.
- Press down firmly on the opening tool to create a seal between it and and cover.
- Twist the opening tool's handle clockwise along with the cover to close the U-Scan.
- Make sure that the arrow along the seam of the U-Scan aligns with one of the dots to ensure the watertight seal is fully closed.
