Our Calci Cartridge is a scientifically-designed tool for proactive kidney health management. It provides valuable insights by monitoring four key biomarkers in your urine, which are clinically recognized by organizations like the American Urological Association (AUA) and European Association of Urology (EAU) for assessing kidney stone risk.
Biomarkers tracked with Calci
The Calci Cartridge brings a novel biomarker to the U-Scan experience: Calcium.
Tracking your urine calcium levels may help you identify a key contributing factor in kidney stone formation, since excess calcium can sometimes crystallize and play a role in stone growth. Elevated calcium in the urine, a condition known as hypercalciuria, is a primary risk factor for the most common types of kidney stones. Monitoring this biomarker is essential for identifying this risk and guiding therapies to manage it.
Calci also tracks other vital biomarkers. Visit the links below for detailed explanations of the other biomarkers tracked with Calci:
Who can benefit from Calci?
-
Users with a history of kidney stones
If you have experienced kidney stones, you face a 50% risk of recurrence within a 10-year period. Regular monitoring with our cartridge allows you to track the key risk factors—such as hypercalciuria, pH level and hydration levels—that contribute to stone formation. This empowers you to better adhere to your prevention plan and reduce the likelihood of recurrence. Please note that a family history of kidney stones is a significant factor that is recognized to double an individual's risk of developing them.
-
Users who proactively manage their day-to-day health
An estimated 9-12% of the population is at risk of developing kidney stones in their lifetime. For health-conscious individuals, our cartridge serves as an effective early-detection tool. It enables you to make informed lifestyle choices, such as optimizing your daily fluid intake (2.5-3 L/day), to proactively manage your kidney health and prevent issues before they arise.
-
Users with elevated risk factors
Certain conditions, such as diabetes, obesity, or a family history of stones, can double an individual's risk of stone formation. This cartridge provides the targeted, frequent monitoring needed to manage this elevated risk. It facilitates early interventions and allows for closer collaboration with your healthcare provider to create a personalized prevention strategy.
