C.andrew.carson makes a good point. Seeing the raw data plus the trend line lets you see how you are progressing and view everything in context with what's going on in your life.

It's concerning that the response doesn't seem to have understood the feedback or how consistent it is from the user base. I really hope Withings takes this on board and corrects the mistakes made with the last release.

    Hello everyone,

Thank you for reacting to our communiqué, I’ll be happy to answer your questions.

@crisp: We can’t divulge yet what we are planning for our future releases, but rest assured that we are not planning on moving any viewing functions into Health+. I also wanted to let you know that I’m forwarding all your requests to our app team so they can take them into consideration, perhaps not for the next version of Health Mate, but for future updates. Regarding the pinch-zoom functionality, it is still available on iOS. Are you unable to use it?

@c.andrew.carson: The numerical trend indicates the weight (in kg, lb or st lb) a user has lost or gained within a specific period of time (week, month, quarter, year). After following our beta testers’ feedback, we decided to remove it to meet other needs. We replaced it with the overall trend that indicates, above the weight graph, if your weight is stable or has changed. However, because of the comments we received from our unhappy customers and because we take all requests very seriously, we’ve decided to reinstate this functionality in our next Health Mate version. It will be available during the first quarter of 2023.

@emil451: I’m sorry to hear that our app is crashing. Did you try to delete it, reboot your phone and download it again? If yes, I invite you to email us via http://within.gs/help so we can look into it.

@dmc.home: Sorry to hear that you’re not satisfied with your scale. Don’t hesitate to email us via http://within.gs/help or to create a new thread on the Forum so we can help you.

Lastly, I would like to thank you all for being Withings customers for such a long time. We know how important you are for the brand and we really want to continue being worthy of your loyalty. We constantly try to improve our devices and services in order to make it easier for everyone to follow and improve their health. Because we want to continue our journey with you, we will keep listening to your feedback.

As I shared in the communiqué, the new design was well-received by a majority of our users. However, following your comments on the Forum, we will reintroduce two features in our next release that you were asking for: the pinch-zoom on Android and the numerical trend. We are aware that some of you wish for more changes so we will keep doing our best and developing new features that will satisfy all our users.

    Merry Christmas to everyone,

    Armelle, Withings Customer Service

I am very disappointed. Withings has not yet corrected the evident mistake with the useless graphs and seems to miss the point why people would want to weigh themselves daily or more. With these graphs the point of having a scale like the Withings is gone. I came from Fitbit and was very happy with Withings, advised by friends. Now this dramatic change and no proper response by Withings. I had a body scan on my wish list but now Withings lost my trust. I cannot understand a serious company letting this happen to its trusted customers.

"the new design was well-received by a majority of our users."

Like who? Post one bit of positive feedback from anyone, seriously. Because that smells like one gigantic lie.
I'd understand if it was updated to look a bit different, and function a bit different. But it's been completely gutted with most of the useful features removed. Who is this 'well-received' with??

"We are aware that some of you wish for more changes so we will keep doing our best and developing new features that will satisfy all our users"

I don't think one person here wants anything 'new'. We just want the features that were removed which made the app helpful.

Please at least give us the option to view our data the way that it used to be. The graphs as they are now are useless to me. If I wanted an average, I wouldn't have a scale that automatically tracks everything.

If it stays as it is now, I'm switching to another brand, not recommending anyone ever buy a Withings product, and throwing this scale in the trash.

for those of you, like me, who are disappointed by the upgrade and you use android, it is rather easy to downgrade and get back the beloved detailed weight chart. generic instructions to downgrade on android are here:

    https://www.alphr.com/downgrade-app-android/

in short, it refers to apkmirror.com. this is the relevant page in that website.

    https://www.apkmirror.com/?post_type=app_release&searchtype=apk&s=withing

the last good version is 5.12.1 of October 17, 2022

As a long time user of the scale I am very focused on the weight graphs.

While, I understand the change from actual weight to average, I think people are interested in their actual weight loss/gain.

Personally, found the feature that showed the “net gain/loss” over the graph period to be very useful.

This could also be implemented by allowing to to record the state of your weight loss journey and then showing the net gain/loss on the dashboard.

As an example, I started losing weight in Feb 2022, so I like to track the net loss from then to now. If I had my way, I would like to see this number front and center on my dashboard.

I realize that the average weight may be more important medically, but from. A psychological standpoint, we want to see as much loss as possible!

Thanks for listening. I have joins the beta now and I am looking forward to sharing my input with the developers.

Fingers crossed they are listening to the users.

I have three Withings scales in three different locations, and I purchased the first one in 2016. The reason why I purchase the Withing product was tracking of all the tiny movements. Sometimes I track everything I drink and eat because of my health. I have never wrote a comment before about a product or service, but this change was so far off the core of the product. I am disappointed! If it’s does not change very soon, I will send the scales back and demand my money back. It’s like selling a car and a few years later removing the tires!

I’ve owned and loved my Withings scale for a few years (up until now).

I also bought one as a gift for a boxer friend, who found it very helpful for closely monitoring his weight fluctuations before a fight, as do all fighters.  Now it’s completely useless for his purposes.  His comments on the new app are not repeatable here; suffice to say he is VERY unhappy.   Several boxers he trains with were planning to buy one as a Xmas present to themselves this year but have now not done so.  It is not an exaggeration to say that Withings scales are now regarded as trash in my local boxing/muay thai community.

Withings is patronising its customers, telling us that they, and only they, know what is best for us, and dummies like us have no ability to comprehend or interpret precise measurements.

Firstly, Withings seems unable to understand that some customers buy their scales for reasons other than “weight loss”, and absolutely require the precise measurements, not some “average” or “stable” or other nonsense spat out by an algorithm.  Secondly, those precise measurements are the reason we bought the scale in the first place.  Thirdly, some might consider it unethical for Withings to arbitrarily change a key feature of a device, which in my case was the primary reason for purchase.

Please, Withings, revert to the previous version before your reputation and sales suffer even more.

PS… Does anyone know how to find the body water weight in the new app?   Has it been removed completely?  That’s an essential feature for boxers and other fighters, not that Withings seems to care.

I am devastated and infuriated by this upgrade which render my Body + scale useless. I want the actual data to do my own analysis based on my goals and life circumstances. I don't need or want smoothing. That is why I bought the Body +. I find the graphs unreadable. I am honestly despairing. Please please please revert to the previous version.

I have to agree with all of the above. Has anyone in the world ever said "my weight trend is down this month" as opposed to "I've lost 2kg this month"? There also seems to be an error with body composition, on the home screen it says losing muscle, when I click in it says losing fat and the graph shows muscle increasing.

Trendline missing, pinch & zoom missing, when changing date period, it seems to choose a random period - hint, I'm probably looking for the current week/month/year not a random one in the past.

When fixing the weight loss display, can you please correct the way you measure it which was wrong in the old app. It measured from the first day of the eg month to the last day and told you that was your weight change for the month. It should measure from (and including) the last measurement of the previous period to the last measurement of the current period, otherwise any weight change between 31st of previous month and 1st of current is ignored and gives incorrect totals.

The thing that is so impressive about high-quality Apple and Android apps is the way they normally allow the user to customize the interface. There is no reason why Withings couldn't create toggles so that we, the customers, could determine how we see our many years of detailed data. The information is already there, and the old app code obviously exists. So give us the choice. Withings should embrace the ability to both cater to those who like the new "averages" interface as well as the loyal customers who like the detailed display. It seems like the obvious thing to do?

I think the new upgrade is terrible!!!!!  I enjoyed going to my weight graph and being able to simply scroll down to see all the other detail graphs, fat, muscle, water, bmi, etc.  PLEASE BRING THIS BACK.  Also turning on the desirable range in the new app makes no sense - what does yellow background mean!  Make the acceptable ranges green!  Apply some logic to your work!

Sorry to add to this thread but really this new update is a mess. I’ve been a customer since 2016, and recommended your products to numerous people (and once again this very Christmas).

I’m very disappointed, like others, by the fact that you removed entire features from the weight and body composition charts.

We need the previous way of visualizing back : granular data, trend lines, goals, ranges... We need body compositions charts back in a meaningful way in the charts.
I’m tracking body fat and this is now hidden a few clicks away without a way to follow changes over time.

Please provide us a way to show those data back in charts.

This new version of the app is useless and demotivating, plus extremely frustrating. I recommended Withings on a diabetes support group page that I run which has thousands of group members and now I’m embarrassed and wanting to find something better.

Honestly, a scale has one primary job: to show me my actual weight. Showing Actual starting weight and actual current weight should be the lowest hanging fruit, the minimal offering, crossing the lowest bar.

Your app designers managed to break the simplest, only thing scales have ever been relied on for providing. Instead, you’re forcing me to not look at the most basic literal information, and shoving your philosophical values regarding what I should care about down my throat.

I can’t see anymore a simple summary of what my overall starting weight was since I started, carrying through to today.

I would do better with using a piece of paper and a pencil. What the heck?

Can I go revert to the last version for my iOS?

wow.. i usually don't post comment. but this is so ridiculous.

so how could Withings be so ignorant of their customer basis to make such a bad upgrade:

1/ we never asked graphic smoothing instead of our datas. i want my accurate number variations, I DON'T CARE ABOUT TREND. Nobody buy a digital scale to have a "trend". This we know obviously. wtf ??! why would you pay for this scale if you just need to know rhe trend. if you want to upgrade, do not remove any existing function, just add more options.

2/ the graph ZOOM sucks, it was better and easier to use before this upgrade.

3/ i'm an athlete. so i want to be able to check my weight, fat mass, muscle mass and ALL DATAS ON THE SAME SCREEN like before on a daily basis. who actually thought it was a good idea to remove that possibility? and it was optional anyway! why would you remove this??

4/ it has been said many times before: the scale and app are useless to anyone serious about it unless they revert to possibility to have the exisiting features.

5/ i don't see any constructrice feedback from Withings. i will not wait 3 months to use a scale !! i'm sorry to say that this probably means that we have to move on and find another scale and app that we will suit our needs... which is crazy considering how many times i actually recommended the scale to other people.

it appears that sometimes new doesn't even mean progress

Why remove the features showing total weight loss by month/quarter/year on the graphs? Please bring this feature back and add averages without taking away totals. Who was your beta group? Terrible.

I hate the app update. The graph is completely useless now. I have data going back to 2017 and can't even use it any more. Please bring back the old functionality, especially of the graph. This useless app is bad enough to make me buy a new and different scale.

There doesn't seem to be a single positive comment on the new version so I can only assume the beta testers either don't exist or their comments were completely ignored as they are unlikely to have a different opinion to everyone else as they are normal users like us.
Please revert to the previous version and then roll out this version again when the multitude of issues have been fixed rather than saying you'll put some features back, sometime in Q1. This current version is not fit for purpose and is doing you huge reputational damage; no-one is going to recommend your scales or app when it is in this state.

I encourage everyone to go leave a one-star review of the app in the app store. For iPhone, go to Profile, then Settings (top right cog wheel), then scroll down to "Rate Withings." Maybe with enough negative ratings in the app store, they'll do something.

About a week ago, I posted a fairly lengthy comment, citing the example of a boxer friend who I had gifted a Withings scale, so he could monitor his weight fluctuations before fights.  Anyone interested in boxing knows how important it is for a boxer to exactly meet the prescribed weight for his weight class at the time of weigh-in.  Precise measurements are needed, not averages or interpretations by algorithms.  The scale is no longer fit for purpose in his case.

I thought my comment was polite, probably delivered with a little snark, but definitely not offensive or rude.  That comment still does not show here and is apparently still “pending approval” a week later.   I can only speculate as to why, as no reason has been given.

At this point all I can offer is that persons with the know-how, and desire to keep using the hardware, look up methods to retain your data. It seems clear that Withings will continue to pursue what they want, and not what their users want.

I won't spell it out here (for fear of retribution from Withings), but you can GOOGLE multiple projects were persons have rerouted the WITHINGS SCALE's data to a local WEBSERVER of your own creation. This lets you keep the data - and then visualize it with a manner of your choosing. Permanent divorce from their cloud/servers/subscription. It's not easy but it's the only road left for me, based on the corporate response.
Also, Grafana is a fantastic tool for visualizing data; and honestly it's very similar to how the old Withings graphing worked. Exactly what I'm after (all I want is the old graphing back).

I love all my Withings hardware, it is a shame I can no longer trust them outside of hardware. Here's hoping their tweaks bring back what we want. If not, see ya'll over in the world of "It's my hardware, it's my data."

Can Withings PLEASE answer this question:   Is the body water weight measurement still visible anywhere in the new 5.13 app?  Or has the water measurement been removed?  Please clarify, as it’s essential for my purposes.   Maybe it’s there, but I can’t find it.

What the ... Unfortunately, the product managers have managed to kill the really good feature. The detailed graphs with all the measurement points and the simultaneous display of weight and body fat have been super helpful. I have been using both for more than 12 years! I pray to all good spirits that they can turn this back.

The new weight visualisation is rubbish. There is no ability for the user to understand their own data. It has become bland and demotivating (and just like all the other generic apps). The previous graph with all the data points and the dynamic trend line was visually informative as well as aesthetically beautiful. The new graphs look like a child’s dot to dot! Not good at all

    @jetaylor

There is a "View All Data" option at the bottom of the weight page, or through the Top-Right Overflow Menu. Viewing a specific weigh-in there, will show a "Body Water: ##%" value. That's all I could find. No graph for it though.

On the Body Composition menu, the Water Mass is the last graph (IOS). Not happy with the upgrade, much better before seeing all your measurement data points on one page.
