    Hello @Renne B,

Thank you for reaching out to us. I’m sorry to hear you're having trouble adding a family member to the Withings app and website. With the latest update to version 7, adding family members directly to your account is no longer available. Now, only users aged 16 or younger can be added as a profile under your account, while users over 16 will need to create their own Withings account when first logging into the app.

Here is some article that might help you:

    - Withings App - iOS - Adding a user profile for your child

If you'd like to share your device with an adult user, they can create their own account using the steps below:

    - Withings App - iOS - Creating Your Account

After their account is set up, you can choose to share data with each other by following these guides:

    - Withings App - iOS - Share Tab

I hope this helps and have a good day,

    Toni, Withings Customer Support

But why did you remove that feature?
My Wife doesn't need all the functions, why her own account??
Please please bring the Family Function back!

I share the same opinion. I bought the scale for my in-laws, who only have one smartphone compatible with the app. It’s not practical to create two separate accounts for them. The ability to manage multiple users under one account was a very convenient feature, and its removal has created unnecessary issues for families like mine.

With this change, how do you reassign measurements? Your articles say you can only do that for users on the same account, but now you don’t allow multiple users on the same account.

    Hello Steven,

Thank you for reaching out. I'm sorry to hear that you're finding it difficult to reassign measurements after the app update.

While our previous instructions mentioned reassigning measurements for users on the same account, we understand that this is no longer the case due to the recent changes. However, you can still manually assign measurements to the correct user's account.

To do so, please follow these steps:

Once you have assigned the measurement, you must delete it. These instructions will guide you through the process of manually assigning measurements to the correct user, ensuring that your data is organized as you intend.

    Have a nice day,

    Lyn, Withings Customer Service

I will second what everyone is saying here: bring it back.

Going a step further rhetorically, why not make it easy on people willing to pay the price? Why force other family members to create their own account? And if you're going to do that, at least have the decency and awareness to manage the troubleshooting page with the outdated solution to this problem and remove that content. Because that just shows people how it's more important to increase the number of user accounts rather than include a feature that creates convenience for their consumers. I mean, you don't want people getting the wrong idea about what is most important here, right?

As everyone mentioned above, please bring back the family option. Creating multiple accounts is not feasible or good solution for non tech people

I am a new user to the Withings products.

It is very annoying not to find the actual support pages for adding new users.
If you change the software you should change the support pages and videos also.
E.g. there exists no "Profile" in the app and in healthmate web application.
Obviously you have strong problems in the software development process at Withings.
Changes in the software must be accompanied by changes in the help facilities.

You did not answer the question why Withings disabled the family feature.

And please bring the feature back.

Agreed, family function was high value and increased our usage. It also was easy to reassign errant weights. This would increase sale of scale as kids go off to school and will want one. We already have multiple scales. This turns me off and one college kid will now pass because we spent hours trying to add him and failed (because your irresponsible synching of coding with communications AND help content. We love the body comp (when it works) and want to teach the family about muscle % being more important than BMI. This is the most expensive scale out there (hardware and software). We will re-evaluate.

I have had great stress getting through to an actual person to talk about adding a family member.
You can't unless you send them a link that is really bad.
It really is ridiculously stupid that you can't add family members to the same account.I would have thought twice about purchasing the bodysmart if I had known about this.why would withings do something so pointless.

A family member have been using the scale without having an account and we would like to export his data to his newly created account. Unfortunately through the app only the weight is visible. Can you please provide a way to access and export the data? I'm on IOS and the family member on Android. Am I supposed to add him as a "Child" even if he's an adult in order to recover those data?

Not only is it ridiculous to remove the family option (and I assume it’s because withings will start charging for a subscription soon, and can make more money if people have individual accounts!) but it’s incredibly annoying that the support pages haven’t been updated to reflect this change! Do you have any idea how much stress you cause when people go through your support instructions and they don’t work?

    Hi Toni From Withings,

I juste use the web UI and want to add a child user.

"With the latest update to version 7" ... what software are you talking about ? Is the WEB UI as a version ?
Where can I find it ?

"Now, only users aged 16 or younger can be added as a profile under your account" ... the web UI is buggy :

    https://account.withings.com/usercreation/create_user?r=

Nothing happen when creating a 2 years child user after the consent question answered. Web page is freezing.

So you can’t assign weights to family members. Don’t bother storing them in my app then. Totally stupid change.

I also agree that it was ridiculous to get rid of the family. Whole point in having this scale was to share with my husband. I now have all his weights and can’t transfer to him. Really bad update please change back

    Lyn’s answer is unsatisfactory.
Yes, one can read and manually enter weights, but 1) it’s only the weight, all the other data are lost 2) having to transcribe data manually totally defeats the purpose of having a WiFi scale.

The change also defeats the purpose of compliance to European regulations - under gdpr the users have a right to have access to their own data.

All the other data but weight (fat % etc) for previous unassigned/unrecognized measurements is inaccessible. Please provide a way to assign past “unrecognized” measures to a new user.

I agree with everyone else. I was planning on my 80 year old parents using this instead of the Omron app, which is a complete disaster, and you're already proving me wrong that Withings was easier... What brainchild came up with that idea? Horrible management decision, and makes me second guess my commitment to your brand...

This is the dumbest thing you have ever done. Why must companies make customers life soooooooo complicated! My husband doesn't want to personally see his weight but I'm helping him track his weight loss journey and you are now telling me that he is forced to take more extra time of his already super busy schedule to go open a new account, see his weight (which he doesn't want to do) and then share his profile with me? Why are we jumping through so many loops? I agree with one of the users that this seems like you will potentially add subscriptions, because we don't have enough, and force people to create accounts to make more money. Just ridiculous! If that happens, I swear I'm smashing the weight with a hammer.

Removing function has been a nightmare. Just setting up and the instructions are wrong. My data has merged and cannot be removed in some areas. For a paid subscription this is poor and the app is very difficult to navigate

Agreed, absolutely makes no sense removing a feature that was the reason probably most bought the scale for. Bring back the family feature under the same account, or risk all users throwing your scale out for something better.

Plus sharing the scale using the share tab is NOT working as it should. Despite accepting the share invitation, it does not show up on the share tab. How could this be?

Stupid decision!!! I want this feature back! Why would you remove this?! It is very inconvenient without it and I bought the scale especially for using it with multiple users in one family. BRING IT BACK!

What a shame… updates commonly improve functionality not reduce it!? Why you would actively make your product worse is a mystery to me.
