I have the exact same issue. Bricked by an update, now factory reset loop.

The proposed solution works. The reason for charging two hours is because battery got completely drained in the factory reset loop issue. I would recommend using a fast charger  to charge as the battery will be completely dead. Wait for 2 hours or more relax and come back. Then press the reset button for more than 20 seconds until you reach the withings URL screen  . Don’t loose patience. If this does not work then remove Bluetooth connection from phone and press reset button for 20 seconds or more until you get the URL for withings. While configuring it again as new device you have to be patience again to get the Bluetooth connection. Vola it will go through steps 2,3 and 4 and then get connected again.

I fixed the issue and after update again back to original factory reset loop state. Is withings going to recall bricked devices I am not sure.

This solution works 100 percent. Charge the device for about three hours as the battery must be totally drained. Disassociate the product from app and remove from Bluetooth under devices.

Press the button on the side of the scale for 15 seconds until the display turns to hello , keep the button pressed on  the scale until the factory reset gauge fills. The scale's screen will display the word "Factory", confirming the reset. At this time, you can start the installation process for the Withings Body Cardio.

Day 2 : Above solution I proposed works and scale is back to normal. Was about to throw in the dustbin and buy a new one.

Mine is also stuck in the Hello - Reset - Factory loop, and no this solution does not work in my case.

It got stuck in the Hello - Reset - Factory loop a few months ago and I was just about to send it to Withings to highlight their lack of a repair department or provider (which is incredibly unsustainable) when I thought I'd try bharathnazareth's suggestion as the battery was now empty.

However after a full charge it is still stuck in the loop

My opinion is that Withings have designed bathroom scales that cannot be used in a bathroom

The distance of the base from the floor is perfect for wicking and storing a large puddle of water underneath the scale.

My guess is that the 3 holes are great at syphoning water in to destroy the contacts / board to cause this issue

If I did ever get another one, I would suggest putting a waterproof sticker or tape over the 3 holes underneath to seal them before use.

Solution does not work for me either.

Waiting for support to contact me again but not holding my breath. If nothing does happen i'll put this company on my black list and let friends and family know not to buy their products. Shame but this is a big problem and the 'solution' does not work

    I was right!!!

So my hunch was that 3 holes on the bottom which are perfect for wicking water into are programming pins. They corrode and contact the Aluminum case, perhaps also allowing water inside - see my earlier post about this Bathroom Scale not being suitable for a Bathroom environment.

I contacted Withings asking repeatedly for a repair option, as it cannot be right to commit a scale that needs a simple fix to crude recycling, if that is what we trust our local depot would actually do with it.

After a few contacts they offered 25% then 50% discount as I'd asked for it to be escalated.

So I bought a new '2016' Body Cardio, and guess what, there has been a design change and the 3 pins are now covered by an oval plastic insert to prevent water getting to them

So this means it is a know issue and design flaw that causes the Reset-Factory-Loop.

Really they should recall the product and at minimum give owners a sticker to put over these holes.

I feel SO STUPID!!! I can't believe that I never even LOOKED for a user support forum when I first reported this EXACT ISSUE to Withings (like the week before they converted to Nokia) and right in the middle of them also handling a warranty replacement of my Steel HR...which Withings started, but then Nokia finished and it got really screwy but eveyone seemed really nice during the whole thing...but I purchased the Steel HR, the Body Cardio scale AND the only version of the BP monitor they offered at the time and hooked them all up to my Android mobile phone (I believe back then it was a Samsung Edge 6Plus? Pretty sure that's right...and I DID REPORT that I was having problems with the scale...strangely enough, I didn't associate it the PWV deletion by Nokia, but it DID occur shortly after that now that I see someone else related that fact here....not sure it's relevant, but it's accurate...I even enrolled as a beta tester for the dashboard(s) and tried to be diligent about reportings things that popped up during their development cycles...but by then I actually had kind of become jaded with my Withings/Nokia/Withings "love affair"...the scale wouldn't come on for me or even show the "0% Charge" display message for a few months after it first malfunctioned...so quite honestly, I shoved it under the bed and went and bought a new, not-nearly-as-expensive-not-NokiaORWithings wifi scale that basically did all the same stuff except HR and THE WEATHER...of course, if/when I used it, I would have to manually update my weight thru the App...too see it on the Dashboard....I HATE THAT THEY HAVE TWO APPS - I don't remember if that's because I do beta testing or if that's the way it's really set up but that's worse than Walmart Orange Grocery and Blue Shopping...which thankfully is one app now but not very gracefully...ANYWAY, $150 scale UNDER THE BED, watch replacement REALLY GOT WONKY (almost a YEAR because it got lost in the shuffle and I am ADHD BAD, etc, etc)...top it all off, BP monitor WHICH WAS NOT CHEAP AT ALL WHEN PURCHASED AND STILL COSTS $99 but it was more then I am almost positive...alot more...was used no more than a dozen times (I hate sitting still and I forget, get distracted about routine stuff like BPM - a dozen times is probably high)...THE CUFF SEAMS STARTED SEPARATING....it just started LEAKING AIR one day when I went to use it and inspection revealed the seam was LITERALLY just fraying apart ...almost 1/2" (finger-width hole)!!!  I have been able to patch the seams together with duct tape but it has to be re-applied/checked each time I use it now...and I question whether it's still calibrated and providing accurate readings (but it does provide successful measurements...if it fails, I check the seam and then make sure I stay really still)...AND MY INTENT WHEN I CAME TO THIS SITE TONIGHT WAS TO BUY ANOTHER WATCH, ANOTHER SCALE and ANOTHER BP MONITOR...WHAT A DAMN PATSY I AM, huh???  I still love the design and functionality of all the devices and the dashboard/app software has come so far the past few years...I have looked at all the other stuff out there and if Wiithing delivered the quality and customer experience that ONE EXPECTS FROM A PROPER ESTABLISHMENT THAT HAS ALWAYS BEEN HELD IN SUCH HIGH REGARD, well THAT COMPANY COULDN'T BE BEAT, no doubt...instead, THEY"VE BEAT ME DOWN TO THE POINT I WAS ABOUT TO THROW GOOD MONEY AFTER BAD...NOW I AM GONNA LEAVE THAT STUFF IN MY CART AND JUST STEW ABOUT ALL OF THIS FOR FIVE OR TEN MINUTES UNTIL SOMETHING ELSE GRABS MY ATTENTION....I have already spent too much money and too much time on this issue but I wish there was a favorable resolution possible, just don't see how we get there from here....good luck to the rest of yall and maybe FitBit and Garmin will continue to up their activity tracker game in the meantime...I just don't find smartwatches very smart, iOS or Android...but probably not nearly as aggravating, either...Toodles!!!

AND I CAN SEE THE CORROSION IN 2 OF THOSE 3 HOLES - no doubt from moisture as a very adept user already identified...it's like that greeny-grey scale that forms on copper/alum....lime maybe I don't know...but, YEAH, THEY HAD TO KNOW IT BECAUSE THEY UPDATED THE DESIGN SUBSEQUENTLY...CORPORATE GREED RULES THE DAY AGAIN

BUT ACCORDING TO THE PICTURES ON THEIR CONTACT US - SUPPORT WEBSITE, MY SCALE IS THE 2016 MODEL, TOO???  I have the silver/grey center bar and the glass with the frosted horizontal stripes...Body Cardio...I already dissociated it from my account but will try to post a pic her...there is NOT any oval plastic cover over those 3 holes on my scale...A BATHROOM SCALE AND THEY DON'T EVEN MAKE IT WATER RESISTANT MUCH LESS WATERPROOF...I'MMA BE HONEST...I WAS NORMALLY NAKED AND DRIPPIN WET WHEN I GOT ON THE DANG THING UNTIL I FIGURED OUT IT MADE ME WEIGH ALMOST A POUND HEAVIER THAN WEIGHING WHEN I WAS DRY...LOL...LAUGH TO KEEP FROM CRYING

I had to link to the pix of the front and back of the scale - it's just a shareable view-only link to a folder on my OneDrive...the upload function only allows a TOTAL 2MB file size - both pix bigger than that???!!! Go figure

We were able to fix this by downloading the app on a new device that hadn't connected to Bluetooth before and connecting to Bluetooth / setting up the device.  (If you don't have a secondary device maybe you can try deleting the app and reinstalling it?)

    Good luck, hope this helps!

So my issue started with some minor water exposure which might've been coincidental, but nonetheless I got the unit apart and identified that there was some minor corrosion under the board where the usb connector and button attach to the bottom case. So I cleaned that, inspected all pieces and also used a blow dryer just to ensure that moisture was no longer present, and reassembled. After charging for just 5 mins or so, the unit was behaving normally again.

So if you get in this loop, there appears to be two common issues. You may have a short or some other abnormality causing a power drain and other oddities, and/or your battery may be no longer charging.

There have been reports of successfully replacing the battery, so that would be the option I would go with if there isn't a moisture issue or some other damage to any of the boards or wiring. To replace the battery so you must be comfortable soldering the new one in and need to acquire the new battery from a reputable supplier. According to somewhere else the person reported using a Galaxy S3 battery as the replacement.

Just ran into this issue this morning. The scale has worked for 2 years without any issues (the setup process wasn't the easiest, but eventually it paired). This morning I got on the scale and it said 'Hello' than it showed a status bar with 'factory reset). It than said that was complete, but keeps doing it over and over again. It had about 60% battery when this happened, so I plugged it in for a few hours to see. The loop stopped, but the scale won't turn on other than to show me battery progress. The iPhone still says that it is connected so I decided to disassocate and repair. It says it disassociates, but still reflects in the app. Unable to hold the button for 3 seconds or 20 plus seconds to get any sort of screen. Same wifi network and location its been in for years. Went through these forums without finding a solid solution. No corrosion or exposure to water on the hardware side either.

Anyone manage to fix this issue?  My Body Cardio is 4 years old and worked fine until two days ago when I got the dreaded factory reset loop.  Have done all the fixes recommended by this forum short of opening it up, but to no avail.  Contacted Withings support, who are responsive and friendly, but are only offering 25% off a new scale (which at £75 here in the UK still makes it way more expensive than the competition).  If I don't get a better offer from Withings I think I will get a competitor scale.  Any recommendations?  I just want it to sync to the MyFitnessPal and Fitbit apps automatically (preferably by wifi, not bluetooth) and measuring things like fat, muscle and water composition would be a bonus.

FWIW, I had the same problem, but after I told my phone to "forget / unpair" the bluetooth connection it seemed to work as normal again (asking to pair, then regular successful setup).
