Scale continually changes weight unit

Mine will do similar if I just stand on scale. If I stand on until it lights up and step off before weight is taken, it will usually zero out. If it doesn’t, I let black out and try again. If it zeros, I try to step on it before the lot numbers black out. Awful scale.

Mine does exactly the above, as outlined by Brian Cardinale. The scale stays in the same place on a hard tiled floor, nothing is accidentally pressing the buttons, yet I’ve seen it light up on its own and scroll through the different weight units and reset to something else. Then the button won’t respond. It’s so frustrating. I think it’s very poor that Withings won’t provide a satisfactory explanation or solution.

Same problem here. Started a couple months ago. Would change units on its own. Extremely frustrating, especially by the lack of response from withings

I see a lot of posts for this. mine does it all the time. randomly comes on and changes weight. eats the battery right up by turning it's own light on and changing units.

Hey Withings Support! I have the same problem. Have Unpaired from iPhone, deleted and dissociated from my account, re-installed, did factory reset and still bad. Frankly this crappy and faulty device you should pay high attention to this forum! It keeps constantly changing the unit to LB or ST instead of KG that I set up approx 100 times. Obviously no avail. People are complaining looong months off simple update and you dare to be silent?

Can someone propose a good weight scale instead?

    Thx

Exactly the same here. Annoying. Have contacted Withings but yet to get a response.

I believe I bought the scale in 2014. I think it started doing this after about two months of use. I attributed it to being moved and dragged along the floor because I store under the sink. Now it’s every other time I weigh myself that I have to pick it up and hit the button several times for it to even register that I’m touching it. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn’t. I think this thing cost me €200 at the time. I don’t really want to change because I have over five years worth of body measurement readings in the app. Wethings need to get on top of this!

So many people have got the same complaint, myself included. I will never buy anything Withings again due to their total lack of interest and response in fixing this. If they were not so shockingly expensive, I would have dumped them ages ago. Ridiculous though it sounds, I just keep 1 battery out now until I want to use them not least to stop this but also to stop the batteries going flat every week due to the scales insistence on being self aware..... Withings = Utter cack.

Same problem here. Seems like a firmware update could easily fix it. For $150 scale, I expect better. Sucks to have to constantly reset the stupid thing, and how much $ am I wasting in batteries? Withings? Are you listening?

wendys.jungle@ - mine did the same blasted thing where it went from lbs to kg. Then after correcting I magically gained over 5 lbs. And this has happened more than once

It happens when I take a long shower and lots of humidity is in the air. Not a big deal actually for me because the readings remain in KG on the app.

I get this and also the phantom gain. I now weigh myself 3 times to be sure the reading is correct. Sometimes gain 2.04Kg then step off and it resets. Not to be trusted. Looking elsewhere for someone that provides decent support.

I had this problem and customer support was very helpful. They agreed to replace the scale with proof of purchase. I had bought it a few years ago and no longer had proof of purchase so they offered a 25% discount on the purchase of a new scale.

my scale has been doing this for two years.  it's not condensation as it's not in a room with a shower.  it's on a hard floor, not a carpet.  i've taken the batteries out, etc.  nothing seems to resolve it and i've never seen an answer other than the guy above who just paid them more money for a new scale.

Wow.. 2 years to get a response from Withings which is just generic troubleshooting.. I guarantee this doesn't work and they would know if reviewed the thread.. Another nail in the coffin of never ever buying anything withings again and ensuring no-one else does . The only way to not wade through batteries month after month is to keep one out of it and only have 4 in when you want to get weighed in whatever random measurement it decides to use.. I hate them soooo much..

Same problem here. It has  done it for ever. Sometimes I see it turn on and cycle through the three possible weight display options for no apparent reason. Measured weight is often crazy immediately after picking it up and moving it. Next day it is ok again. Battery life is ok though I'm glad to say.

i did eventually hear back from withings.  after telling them that this has been going on for years, they said "your scale has a hardware problem and must be replaced", then offered to sell me a new scale.

Nice. So they sell you faulty goods, and when you point this out they generously sell you  a replacement. Brilliant business model.
