Note: With the arrival of the 8.6 update of the Withings App, User Profile management has changed. Due to privacy protection measures, we have changed the way that User Accounts and Profiles are defined and managed. This has in turn affected the way that our scales handle multiple users. 

Your Withings Scale is designed to accomodate up to 8 users at one time. These users can be a mixture of user profiles that are under your Account (typically child profiles for users 16 years old or younger), or other independent Accounts (users who are at least 17 years old). 

Withings users are categorized into these three types:

• Account Holders: The primary adult user (at least 17 years old) whose email is associated with the Withings Account. They can add and remove up to 7 User Profiles within their Account , set up Withings+ subscriptions, and manage all account details.
• Secondary Profiles: Secondary user profiles added by the main Account Holder are considered separate accounts that can have their own child profiles. 
• Child Profiles: These child profiles are for users 16 years of age or younger.

Below you'll find steps on how to add and delete user profiles, as well as how to make adult profiles independent. 

Adding a Secondary User to your Device

To add another account to your device so they can use it as well can be done with these simple steps via the Withings App:

1. Open the Withings App.
2. Go to devices in the upper right.
3. Find the device you want to share and scroll down to 'Share Device'.
4. Tap Invite a Relative
5. Send the invitation via QR code, link or app.
6. Tap Done
7. Once the person you're inviting accepts their invitation you will receive a notification.

Note: You can now manage, add or remove all device users from the Device's user panel.

Adding your Child's Profile to your Account

Via the Withings App:

1. Open the Withings App.
2. Go to devices in the upper right.
3. Find the device you want to share and scroll down to 'Share Device'.
4. Tap Create a Child Profile
5. Enter the user data and add an optional image.
6. Enter the user's date of birth.
   Note: Users may not be older than 16 years of age.
7. Tap Continue.
8. Declare yourself the legal guardian by checking the box, then tap Declare.

Managing and Removing User Profiles from your Account

Via the Withings App:

1. Open the Withings App.
2. Go to devices in the upper right.
3. Find the device you want to share and scroll down to 'Share Device'.
4. Select the associated profiles and choose the one you want to manage or remove
   Note: Deleting a secondary or child profile will also delete their data from your account.
5. A pop-up will appear asking to confirm the deletion. Tap Yes to confirm.
6. The user will be removed from the Withings App and an email will be sent to the account holder's email address with a 7-day link to the user's data for download.
7. To archive the user's data, follow these steps: 
   - In the email, click Save this data if you want to archive the user's data.
   - In the next screen, click Start my archive to have another email sent to download the data.
   - In the email, click Download your data. 
   - In the next screen, click Recover your data as a csv file to download the data as a CSV file.
8. To skip the archive step and instead delete the user without delay, click Permanently delete data now. Otherwise, the user will be removed after 7 days.
9. If you changed your mind, click It's a mistake, please reactivate in the email and follow the instructions to cancel the deletion.

Making existing Adult Profiles independent

Prior to the Withings App 7.0 update, it was possible to have adult users nested within another adult's Account. If you are an adult user and have your profile nested within another adult's Account, it is strongly recommended to make your profile independent. You will then have a choice on what data to share with another Account. To do this, please follow the instructions in our dedicated article.
