ScanWatch can detect atrial fibrillation (AFib) when recording an ECG. But it can also check for signs of AFib throughout the day and night, using a PPG (photoplethysmography) sensor that emits green light and measures its reflections on the blood vessels in the wrist. When the blood flows, the reflection of light changes.
An exclusive algorithm analyzes the signal. If your heart rate is atypical (low or high), or if an irregular rhythm is detected, you will receive a notification.
You can see your signs of AFib data on your Withings App on the Home tab.
Note: You will not receive signs of AFib notifications if you haven’t enabled them beforehand. To activate them, please go to the Devices tab of your Withings App then go to ScanWatch > Health Features > Signs of AFib and follow the on-screen steps.
