If your cuff seems to be deflating too quickly, or faster than normal, this is typical behavior of tyour withings BPM! The blood pressure is measured during the infaltion process, so the cuff is able to quickly deflate after the measurement.
There are two types of measurements that blood pressure monitors use:
- "Oscillometric deflation," is the one you typically experience in the doctor's office, where the cuff deflates slowly and takes the measurement during that phase.
- Oscillometric inflation" which Withings BPMs use, performs the measurement during the inflation phase and deflates quickly afterwards.
At Withings, we have chosen to measure blood pressure during inflation so that your arm is compressed for less time, offering greater comfort.
Note: For clinically validated devices there is no difference in accuracy between the two methods.
