While U-Scan is mostly a passive user experience, occasionally issues will arise and the Withings App will provide real-time notifications and messages to help you solve them. Below are the most common status messages and notifications along with their meanings and solutions.
General messages and notifications

Your Device Battery is Low | Your U-Scan needs to be charged. |
U-Scan Requires Cleaning | Your U-Scan needs to be cleaned. |
U-Scan Requires Rinsing | The U-Scan was not rinsed thoroughly during the rinsing stage of the deep clean process. Follow the instructions to try and rinse your U-Scan again. |
Excessive Humidity Detected | There is a critical amount of moisture inside the U-Scan and it needs to be dried. Learn more. |
Non-Operational Device | Please contact our Support if you receive this error message. |
Cartridge messages and notifications
In-app message | Explanation and solution |

To use U-Scan you’ll need to install a cartridge | This indicates that there is no presence of a Cartridge. Please install a Cartridge to use your U-Scan. |
Cartridge not compatible with app | Update your Withings App to the latest version |
Cartridge not compatible with firmware | This indicates that the U-Scan is not yet updated to its latest firmware. Please manually update the firmware or wait for the firmware to automatically update the next day between 11:00 am and 12:00 pm during its morning purging/synchronization. |
Cartridge is empty or expired | This indicates that the Cartridge needs to be replaced for one of the following reasons:

Cartridge is unreadable | This can happen if the Cartridge is not properly installed. Please try to reinstall the Cartridge. |
Cartridge is not valid | Please try to reinstall the Cartridge. |
Cartridge is not activated | Check the Wi-Fi connection of the device and then try to reinstall the Cartridge. |
Cartridge is being activated | This will happen if you try to access the U-Scan immediately after installing a Cartridge. Wait 10 minutes for the activation to complete. If you see the message after 10 minutes, try to reinstall the Cartridge. |
