    Hello @Jan-Volkert,

Thank you for your post. I’m sorry that your ScanWatch 2 is no longer charging. I value the steps you've taken already. Regarding our contact center, it is currently undergoing maintenance to enhance its functionality. However, for any of you who have yet to do so, please visit this article:

    - ScanWatch 2 - Charging my watch

Please take note of the following:

    1) Inspect the charging cable and the back of the watch for any visible damage, particularly to the area where the HR sensor lens is located. If you notice any damage to either the cable or the back of the watch, kindly send us a photo of it and reach out to us immediately at https://bit.ly/3Lg5tPL.

    2) Attempt to connect the charger to a different USB port. You can utilize 10W chargers such as those found in iPads and other tablets. Alternatively, you can try using a different USB-C cable.

    3) Ensure that the charger is making proper contact with the watch. Proper contact is achieved when the watch button is securely fitted into the opening on the charger, and the watch sits flush with the charger.

    4) If the issue persists, please charge the watch for 4 hours, then press the button and check if the display now powers on.

If your ScanWatch 2 continues to experience charging issues, we encourage you to reach out to us via chat using this link. When messaging us, kindly provide the link to this Forum thread so our team is aware of the steps you've already taken. Additionally, please include a photo of your charging cable, and inform us if the watch has undergone any fall or impact.

    Happy Tuesday,

I don't get it. You throw steps at me I already described. I've done more: used a digital usb monitor to check the current. Used a second watch. Used a second charger. Used a second charging head.

The chat gave me exactly the same response without reading the questions and explanation and closed the chat after a few minutes of inactivity. No option to reopen a case.

Same exact issue here... Hmmm... Seems to be a common thing.

Watch has just suddenly stopped being able to charge. No apparent damage anywhere.

What worked for me was charging for 24 hours. If it's fully discharged it seems to charge extremely slowly. Which does make sense if you want to protect the battery but it's annoying at least. After a full recharge it seems to charge faster if I recharge it starting above 10% capacity.

I am having charging issues as well, contacted support, but didn't get anything useful from support. My Scanwatch 2 charged normally until an update occurred...not sure which one, but now charging has to be monitored ...it just stops charging. If I pull the watch from the charger, put it back in...it starts charging again. I've tried multiple USB cables, tried different charging heads or using a Chromebook high output charger, bought 2 aftermarket Scanwatch 2 chargers on Amazon...and it's the same no matter what. It has to be a software issue with the watch since it charged fine until about 2 months ago (maybe 3 months ago).

Has Withings come with anything more than just try again? I have the same issue.

I did a restart by holding the button down about 5 seconds and that helped the charging, but my battery life tanked and tracking was off. Did a factory reset last night and will see what that does.

Same problem, İ hope that's a software issue

It's not a software issue. The battery in the watch dies apparently. Mine just up to, but not beyond, warranty. So I got a full refund from the unfortunate Withings-seller I used here in Denmark. They have had multiple similar incidents where they needed to do a full refund. So I for one won't be looking back.

This is a serious issue that is recurring and not on any sort of attention map of Withings.

I have the same problem. Customer service sent me a new charger but it didn’t help. They claimed my issue was relayed to a higher up senior customer service 2 weeks ago so I asked yesterday for an update I received an email that my issue had been updated but no actual response . Today I asked for a refund and got the same email response.

My ScanWatch 2 has also been having charging issues for a long time. I need to check from time to time if the watch is charging, because it can stop charging on its own. I have tried different cables, different chargers, and also tried connecting the watch to a PC, but none of this works at all.

same problem for me.  After a long time i.e. > 3 hours it finally got to 32% (from 0) but now it seems to be stuck there.  I have left it "charging" for 2 hours and it didn't budge from 32%.  When i attach the charger it makes it clear that it is charging (i plug it in when on the battery screen), but then 2 hours later I take it off and it's still at 32%.  I am going to give it a break from "charging" now and will plug it back in later to see if I can get it to move.  Found this thread when looking to see if people are having similar issues.

A factory reset solved the charging issue for me...it still takes longer than I'd like (even when it says it's done, if I charge another hour the watch lasts days longer).  This should help: https://support.withings.com/hc/en-us/articles/17091423076113-ScanWatch-2-Factory-reset-process

to continue from above, after the break I plugged it back in and it made it's way to 40% and then started hanging out there, refusing to take on any more charge.  i had ordered a third party charger , which came late yesterday and when I used that it charged right away back to 100%.  Strange, but for me a new charger fixed it!

    Hello there!
I'm encountering the same issue and wanted to share a tip. Ensure the watch surface that touches the charging pins is clean. Over time, exposure to water and air can create a thin, invisible layer of dust that interferes with the connection. Even if it appears clean, this can prevent proper contact. Also, be sure to clean the charging pins themselves. You can use a contact cleaner to thoroughly clean both the watch surface and the pin tips. Often, charging problems stem from a lack of secure contact between these two parts.

    Hello,
Unfortunately, I have the same problem since I started using Nova. The watch does not charge - you have to put it in the charger for a very long time, adjust it - after some time it starts charging but the slightest movement ruins it. I thought it was a problem with the charger but I managed to buy a second new one and it is identical with it. I checked it with a power supply measuring the current consumption and indeed, Nova does not draw current when connected to the charger, even though the display sometimes shows "charging". I am talking to Withings support but apparently a team of senior experts has been wondering... for a long time.
Previously I had a Sanwatch Horizon and there was no such problem with it. It seems to me that some copies simply have a design defect (hopefully not all), most likely there is a lack of good contact inside the watch...

Have your charging problems been resolved? I am still waiting for the opinion of senior Withings specialists and I cannot use the watch. The problem has been going on for a long time, I returned to my Tissot T-touch Sport because using Nova is too stressful - you never know if it will charge. I did not have this problem with Scanwatch Horizon, which always charged correctly.

I'm just going to post this again...ANYONE having charging problems should try a factory reset of their watch: ScanWatch 2 - Factory reset process – Withings | Support

It worked for me...not sure if anyone else has tried it yet but would love to hear if it helped anyone else.  In addition, ignore when your app/watch says it's "fully charged".  My watch lasts longer when I leave it charging for 4 hours regardless of the watch/app saying it's fully charged.

    @Eric R

I've done a factory reset 5 times... it didn't help. The problem seems to be a design flaw that doesn't provide good electrical contact inside the watch. I hope this isn't a problem with all Novas and won't become apparent with use - the warranty is 2 years (Horizon was 5). It happened to me after the first two charges.

Thank you, you've given me faith :)
I'm still struggling with service, it's been months!!!

Withings senior specialists are looking into the problem - I bought a second charger to rule it out as the cause and of course nothing! I suggested replacing it with a working one, but so far I've gotten nothing.

Customer Service sent me a new watch a couple months ago and it's charging properly.  After senior customer service reviewed my issue that a new charger didn't fix the non-charging issue, they determined it must be a mechanical problem and apparently it was.  I hope they have fixed the problem for future customers.

ScanWatch 1 does not chage. When I place it to charger, nothing happens - no vibration nor any visible sign of it starting charging. I tried using different usb ports on laptop and tryied different power bricks, kept the watch in charger for up to 12 hours etc until watch run out of battery power and is now completely dead. There has been no drops or any damage to watch or charger. The watch operated perfectly until it stopped charging. Is there a way to check is it issue with charger or watch? Like, should there be current on charger pins to measure? I do not have any spare chargers to try and don't want to buy one just to try out.

My ScanWatch 2 is about 4 months old and never has started charging on the first try. It indicates "charging" and displays unchanged charge level percentage on the display but actual charging does not take place. Tap for charging level indication does not work, either. It does not matter how many cables or USB powers I have used, charging starts randomly after several tens of tries.

It is obvious that induction loop does not start on watch side when watch is placed in it´s holder.

On this message chain, there is enough information for you to recreate the issue and find the solution to this rather simple design flaw. Start to work with it now!

    Hi everyone,

I had similar problems and fiddled around a little. One thing i noticed: The ScanWatch charges with very low amps (power, in a certain way). I noticed that, because my powerbank indicates only for a very short time, that it's a device is using power (the charger) and then turns itself off again, thus also interrupting the charging.

How does that happen? Well, USB-C is much more complex than older USB stuff. One of its greatest benefits is its capability to support also support higher voltages, up to 20V instead of only 5V.

I personally believe, that chargers, which support higher voltages and higher amps, turn themselves off if too less power is drawn. Maybe it has to do with the negotiation of the voltages between the devices, I don't know. I have other devices with similar struggles. Some manufacturers even tell you to not use USB-C chargers that can deliver higher voltages.

Conclusion: Try a normal 5V charger (with up to 5 or 10w) for charging the watch. Just pick one, that has USB-A connector. These are always 5V only. After i switched to those, it immediately worked.

    Hello,

yes, I know something about it and you are right, in the case of USB-C the problem of drawing very small currents (around 40-60 mA) can cause chargers to turn off.

My problem was different - I always connected USB-A chargers with a voltage of 5V (and computer ports). Service replaced my watch with a new model and now everything is OK (I now have 3 chargers so the problem of damaging one of them is also eliminated :)

    Thank you for your message

    best regards

    Jacek R.
