My scale continually changes the weight unit on it's own. I'll come in at its set to KG. Change to LB. Come back and its on St - Lb. Change it to LB. Keeps doing it!
-
Mine was doing the same until recently (its now slowed up), it ate through new batteries in a couple of weeks. Try taking the batteries out for a few minutes then putting them back in. I suspect its the App that has recent updates (I'm on an iPhone) and is pinging the Scale for new data, but that's just a guess. If Withings cared about these older units they would answer, perhaps I'll be surprised.

I have this same problem with WS-50. I choose kg, but scale still changes to lb on it's own. It's very annoying and I think that occurs regardless of the battery level. My scale is up to date, of course, and is used by three users, if it matters - all of them define kg in their applications.

Are you using the scale on carpet? It is possible that the carpet is touching the buttons on the bottom of the scale causing the problem. I would recommend that you move the scale on a hard floor and if the issue persists, try to contact their customer service team at https://within.gs/help to check for other options.

My weight is used directly on the floor. After finishing the measurement, I put it on the shelf. There is no possibility of accidental contact with the buttons. The units change automatically, irrespective of the position of the scale. I brush my teeth and see in the mirror how it begins to change units :/

My scale, after 4 years of flawless service, is now giving me weight, a blame screen then a split screen thar blinks alternating left with a caricature of my left foot then my right foot. This is with fresh new batteries. Please help. Otherwise, It’s destined for the trash.
Any ideas ?

Ummm...this posts shows as answered...really? It seems like the answer was "Do the thing you know how to do with the button on the bottom, and if that doesn't work, restart the loop where we ignore you and send you to this thread again." Do better Withings. Seriously.
I have a a problem where the scale ONLY reports in KG, this is after months and months of the thing not working at all. No button presses and holds of the unit button, no reboots, no software updates fixes it, it only shows KG.
I'll ask again, since you have ignored my emails: How do I fix this problem?

Add another voice to the choir; I have the same issue, and having seen the level of support Withings offers for its products, I will not be buying anything else with the Withings name. I sincerely hope this company folds. You make a sub-par product and refuse to support it; it's what you deserve.

Same problem. I watch the ghost scroll through the units, select one, and in a few seconds, it changes its mind to the next unit. I keep mine scale in the kitchen to ward off temptation, and it's not humid nor is near water. It's on a completely flat surface not moved. I can convert kg and lb so that is not as troublesome as st lb, but the bigger issue is that it doesn't always sync my measurements due to this bug.

Had mine start doing the same in 2014. Got so sick with it, I ended up switching to a FitBit Aria since I had a Fitbit Fitness tracker. Now that i'm on a Apple Watch, I thought i would give it another go since fitbit still won't integrate with apple health.
It seems that this button going faulty with the WS50, but have also seen posts on the WS30. Does anyone know how to open the unit and if it's worth trying to clean the sensor? Really not wanting to have to pay for a new unit when it seems to be a design flaw and also the WS50 already does everything
Maybe i'll even try to find the receipt and try to get the unit replaced under Australian Consumer Law....
Shame that WIthings/Nokia doesn't seem to want to comment or support their older model devices. Do the newer models even have the same feature set as the WS50 with the CO2 readings?

I truly truly hate this scale. I struggle with throwing it out because I paid so damn much for the stupid thing. That said, I was recharging batteries and left the scale without batteries for about 5 hours and it no longer cycles through different weight units. Replacing batteries immediately after removal did not resolve issue. This happened by luck. The bad news, it won't sync to the app now. Maybe this will work for someone.

Unfortunately, it looks as if our scales were devices that were supposed to break after a few years of use. I don't know how else to explain the lack of technical support (ignoring our messages) with a simple software problem that can be resolved by, for example, restoring an earlier version of firmware. This was not what I expected when choosing the Withings system :(

Our WS-50 has been fine for years, now in the past month it's toggling from LBS to KG on it's own as described. It's on a tile floor and undisturbed except when stood upon. Yesterday I caught it light up and switch to KG. I switched it back then today it red in KG again. I switched it back, and a minute later it began displaying room CO2 over and over.... This is frustrating!
withings.com @... This thread says "Answered" but the issue isn't solved. Please offer up a true solution not just "push the button to change modes". If I need a new scale please offer a discount code or replace this one.
I just pulled the batteries as another customer Jason suggested. I re-installed the batteries after 15 minutes and now it *seems* okay. I'll report back in a week or so.
UPDATE ---- One week later after pulling the batteries for 15 minutes... It is operating normally still!!! Just wanted to share. -
I've checked in on this thread (and older ones that were the same) over the past couple years (bought the scale in 2016, problem started within a couple months). The issue is not a software one, as it relates to condensation buildup. Putting an air and moisture tight seal over the battery compartment helps it last several months longer (moisture must still get in elsewhere, or my gap isn't tight). That's also why the guy who waited days before putting new batteries in likely had more success as the internals dried out. At least this is what I've gathered from the various forums that have popped up on this over the years.
My question is has the design been changed on the new ones yet? I've been waiting to upgrade (and currently just ignore the scale periodically checking the weight through the app) but don't want to drop the money on a new scale that will have the same issue.

I have been having the same problem for the past several months too. I have tried to do a full reset of the device, remove the batteries overnight, install new batteries, reset the wi-fi connection, etc. The problem of random weight units continue to be an issue. An extremely frustrating part of this whole thing is that the weight selection "button" on the bottom is unresponsive. Pressing or holding repeatedly does nothing and then all of a sudden it decides to show the weight selection options. I have countless times reset the device to track my preferred weight units but every time I go back to weigh myself it switches to another setting. The app remains stable and continues to track in the correct units. Has anyone had any luck with disassembly and cleaning? If it is dust this may fix the delayed button responses. If the problem is with moisture than that is just a huge fail on Withings part as most scales are placed in a high humidity bathroom. Very annoying overall and disappointing as these scales are by no means inexpensive.

Shabandos - lbs and stones is UK (pre decimalization). My scales are set to that. Once or twice a month they reset themselves to lbs. That's not so much of a problem but this is:
When I set them back to lbs//stones the weight reading is up by 4 or 5 libs. Now I know I can't put on that much in 24 hours. Next day or later in the same day it's gone back down again.
Does anyone else have this?
